How to Filter Items based on Value in Excel Pivot Table

Suppose you have a pivot table created using retail sales data as shown below:

You can filter this list based on the selling price. For example, suppose you want to get a list of all retailers whose sales are more than 3 million.

Here are the steps to do this:

  • Go to Row Label Filter – Value Filter – Greater Than.

  • In the Value Filter dialog box: Select the values you want to use to filter. In this case, this is the sum of sales (if you have more items in the value field, the drop down will show all of this).

  • Select the condition. Since we want to get all retailers with sales of more than 3 million, select ‘have more’.

  • Enter 3000000 in the last field.

  • now click ok

This will quickly filter the list and show only those retailers whose sales are more than 3 million.

Similarly, there are many other situations that you can use such as equal to, equal to, less than, in between, etc.
